Options

Google mail is best experienced on the Chrome browser and we encourage you to use this for accessing your email. Refer to the following article on the transition from Outlook to Gmail -> https://gsuite.google.com/learning-center/products/gmail/switch-from-outlook/

You can access your Google Mail account in a number of different ways, if use of the internet browser doesn't work for you. A summary of the available mail clients and basic instructions for all devices can be found here Google Mail Client Options


1. Google Mail Offline - Google provide an Offline version of Google Mail, which you can install to allow access to email when not connected to the internet. This uses the Chrome browser only and is available from the Chrome Webstore. 2. Microsoft Outlook - Google Mail works with all Windows versions of Microsoft Outlook up to and including Outlook 2016. It does not currently work with Outlook for MAC though and the only option Apple MAC users at present is to use Gmail through the Chrome Browser. There is a planned release of Microsoft Outlook for MAC in the second half of 2017 which will provide this as an option again.

3. Google Gmail App - If using a tablet or smartphone, it is recommended to use the Google Gmail and Google Calendar App, both of which can be freely downloaded from Application Stores. 4. Apple Mail App - If you are using an iOS device such as an iPhone or iPad, you can continue to use the Apple Mail App for email and calendar.

Devices

Computers (Desktops, Laptops)

Google Mail is accessible from an internet browser, with Google Chrome offering the best experience. Google Mail Offline can be added to the Chrome browser to allow access to Google Mail when there is no internet connection. Google Mail offline is available in the Chrome Webstore. Microsoft Outlook - is currently only supported in Windows computers and requires the use of the Google GSuite Sync for Microsoft Outlook to be installed and configured. Detailed instructions for setting up the Google GSuite Sync for Microsoft Outlook can be found here Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook (GASMO) Installation Guide. (Please note you will require some understanding of Outlook and installing software to complete this)

There is currently no solution for Apple MAC computers and the use of mail client software with the Catholic Education setup of Google Mail.


Tablets and Smart Phone

Google Gmail and Calendar App - is available through the Google Play or Apple Store depending on your device. An instructional video of how to configure the Gmail App can be found here Setting up Gmail App on iPhone or iPad.

Apple Mail - iOS devices can continue to use the inbuilt mail applications to access Gmail by setting up as an Exchange Account and changing the mail server to m.google.com. An instructional videos of how to configure the Apple Mail App can be found below.
